My Top 5 Christmas Destinations (Blogmas day 17)

reading experiences with nora

Continuing with the top 5 theme of my previous post, I thought it would be nice to talk a bit about the top 5 places I would want to spent my Christmas at. Even though right now it is 14o C (around 57o F) outside. Considering that I live in Central Macedonia, which is in the northern part of Greece, and also that in my village it’s usually at least 2o C colder than the neighboring town, I can’t even think think what the weather is like in the southernmost parts of my country like Crete. It must be around 20o C down there! These are temperatures you see in the Middle of April not at the end of December! I was joking today with my sister when I told her that, if we were going to have a Christmas summer, then I would rather be…

Living in the winter wonderland Helsinki

A Thousand Diversions

Beautiful girls in skimpy skirts walk past me, laughing and breezing through the happy crowd gathered on the streets. I look at them in envy because while they are always dressed up for the weekends or any festive occasion, I am, mostly, covered from head to toe in heavy woolens, often wondering what makes them immune to this biting cold! Perhaps, the answer is not that tough; they belong to this winter wonderland and, for them, life goes on like this. Not this cold or anything on earth (absolutely nothing) can or should dampen their spirits.

Still, I wonder; is it vodka or their blood that keeps them warm. Tucked inside my jacket, muffler, and faux fur hoodie, I look at this corner of the world in deep amazement. I can’t even pinch myself. Thanks to all the layers I put on!

On most of these frozen days, when I…

Golden Circle – Iceland

Iceland Tour of

You cannot come to Iceland and not witness this magical tour. I had the pleasure of spending the day with a great guide named Ragnar on Bustravel Iceland. Such a great story teller of Icelandic history. I would take any tour of Iceland with him .. I wish I had more time.

We started before sunrise because the sun doesn’t rise until about 10:00 am right now in the winter. It was hazy outside, -10 degrees, and perfect. The tour lasted about 9 hours with plenty of breaks and stops for photos. If you go on this tour, prepare yourself for the magic of the island of Fire and Ice!

Lake Kerið

Our first stop of the day was to a volcanic crater, lake Kerið. The crater isn’t entirely massive, but I wouldn’t want to be the person who falls in.

4 Unconventional Ways To Really Understand The Beauty of Bangalore

Luxury travel Advisors

Everyone is emotionally attached to the city that they grow up in. Be it a small village, or a big metro city, our home town always remains close to our heart. And then comes a place, which embraces one and all; the expats, migrants, people from other cities and of course, those who belong there.

From a long walk in Cubbon Park, to hundreds of cafes, from a trail of trees everywhere, to the amazing weather, you can’t help falling in love with Bangalore. A leading newspaper, The Hindu, agrees with us. As against nearly 2.69 million tourists who visited Bangalore during January-December 2012, the number was 3.15 million during the same period in 2013 – an increase of nearly 16 percent. There has been a steady growth in the number of tourists visiting the city. The target is to achieve the 5 million mark by 2020 (The Hindu, 2014).
